QARAY RITUAL

This ritual aims to heal sick camelids, and can extend for several hours or even days, depending on the severity of the illness.

It is performed by a healer known as a «yatiri», the process involves preparing a mixture of herbs, medicinal plants, alcohol and chicha. The yatiri then conducts a series of prayers and chants to help the animal recover from its ailment, while giving it the prepared drink.
